I sent my model 58 in for a check-up back at the end of July. I had stoned the trigger to fix a push-off issue (per Kuhnhausen manual), but I was worried that I did not "really" fix it.
The estimate was $66.00 and the work to be performed was "fix trigger", recut forcing cone, and whatever the line item is for setting the barrel back a thread to close the barrel/cylinder gap.

Anyway, turns out that I sent it in RIGHT before they began a 2-week shutdown. So, it took almost a month just to get the estimate. Then another few weeks to do the work.

It was funny, when I called to make my payment over the phone, the lady I spoke with said "that's a lot of work your getting for just one hour labor".

I agree!

Sounds about right to me, if the smith had everything he needed right in front of him and didn't have to wait on a lathe or other machine to open up.

S&W has always been fair with me - not perfect, but fair, or maybe a little more than fair.

We see some screw-ups, but those do happen in a manufacturing facility, no matter what anyone says. The real test is whether they get the overwhelming percentage of mess-ups eventually made right, and they always have, for me, at least. Glad you were able to get that old M58 back in good running order again.
