Just wanted you all to know that Ebay, not the seller refunded me for the 9mm slide that the ATF came down and, well took back.

This purchase was not covered by the “money back guarantee.” It took four different phone calls, all adding up to over three hours total. I really almost gave up, but I didn’t. Yesterday I finally got my money back including shipping. I still have not heard back from the seller.

Even though all this has happened, I am still getting stuff from Ebay. I just got that complete, 7” compensated “lazy ampersand” 41 barrel for my @ ‘69 41.

Good for you. If the seller knew about the, um, dubious origin of the part I suspect you may not see future items from him. Or even if they didn't know. And you can bet they just took the funds out of his (PayPal?) account to compensate you; very big of them.

The site may (still) be a treasure trove of stuff, but I have not used them in about 10 years except buying an item online that I didn't realize went through their sales process. They lost me at the "no selling of parts that can make the gun fire" policy, but I guess if they allow pistol slides to be sold that virtue-signaling idea has changed.

Yeah, they probably docked his PP, bank, or credit card.

And since you can now buy complete slides there, and magazines (just <10 round)....

Yes, you can buy just about anything except "high capacity" magazines and receivers. Prices are all over the place, so some stuff sits for months due to overly optimistic sellers.

Which can make some sense. Some freedom-hating states have possibly ugly liability for sellers, even if the sellers are not in-state.

over 60 rifle , pistol , + shotgun receivers sold on ebay so far this year that I have seen - the sellers list them as barrels , barrel extensions , + trigger housings - a lot of them sell complete firearms broken down into components in separate listings -

People can misrepresent things, but if found out Ebay will delete the listing. If they are selling a receiver, that's a much bigger issue.

Just curious OP, out of the three hours spent, what where the excuses Ebay use to denied the refund besides "its not a money back guarantee listing" and what ultimately change their decision? or did they in your case did an exception.

reporting them to ebay using their report an illegal item feature is totally futile - they have no clue at all about their own regulations are - last year I reported 9 receivers + all sales were consummated , I stopped reporting - I don't look for them but come across them while looking for parts at least 3 times a week - I also see 15 rd. M1 carbine mags. + 30 round AR15 + AK mags. listed as 10 rounders -

I've never seen a receiver for sale in all the listings I've looked at. Not that I would buy one, I don't look good in stripes.

OTOH, while I can see why Ebay restricts magazine sales of over 10 round capacity, state laws vary widely. In MA, as long as the magazine was made before 1994, I can buy it from anywhere and use it. Other states have different laws.

Ebay is taking the easy way out in that case and the sellers aren't necessarily breaking any laws.

Glad eBay worked for you as I got screwed. I sold a new Airsoft gun on eBay and it was shipped. Two weeks after it arrived I get a notice that it was being returned because of shipping damage. I told the buyer to file a claim with USPS since they shipped it. He said they wouldn't accept the claim and I had to file the claim. He wouldn't send any pictures of the damage but just sent it back in the original boxes I used and files a claim with eBay, saying the item was misrepresented and he wanted his money back. By the time I got the gun back, eBay had refunded him is money AND all the shipping costs. When I examined the gun, I can see why the PO refused his claim. The gun was broken but there was NO damage to either of the boxes in which it was packed. From the damage, it looks like if suffered damage from very rough play, not shipping. EBay say I was at fault and refused to do anything about it. So now I have a broken gun and am out two shipping costs and eBay fees for the ad. Isn't eBay wonderful!
