I have two 60-7 Lady Smiths that are future gifts for my daughters. However, Dad had been searching for several years for a 60-7 for himself. I let one go about three years ago when I thought the owner wanted $25 too much. Dumb!

So yesterday I saw a post on my local forum for a 60-7. It looked to be in good shape. I asked a price, he countered.

$25 more than I wanted to pay. So this time I paid it. Smart!

Glad I did. The gun checked out, I swapped in a 15 pound rebound spring, and took it to the range.

This gun is dead on with 158 Gr .38 SPCLS. At 7 yards I was drilling a large hole in SA. I often shoot at 25 yards so I figured what the heck.

Here's my best result, SA. I'd like to say it was all skill, but I was unable to repeat this. Another group had two near the bullseye and three near the top of the paper. But I can claim this one at least:

Now most of the time the pictures of a new gun show the gun in cleaned and polished condition. Not this time. Here it is after the range trip:

The SN begins with BFV, so it's a September 1992 production. Very pleased I waited, it's a good shooter. I must say the extra width of the front sight makes a huge difference over the earlier model 60's. I have a 60-3 that I took to the range for comparison, and lining up the sights on this 60-7 was much easier.

Finally, finally, I have a 60-7. A good day.

Edit: Whoops, wrong sub-forum. Sorry mods.

I think those are the best of the M-60 snubs and probably the most desirable snub .38 yet made.

And the factory warrants them for Plus P ammo, although I wouldn't shoot it continuously, as it'll accelerate wear.

My experience is that they're very accurate. But so are most M-60's, regardless of the dash suffix.

Model 60-7 2"

I previously owned a N/D M60 2" and let it slip away. I later read that the M60-7 2" was the best model ever produced. For what you have mentioned, the front sight and the ability to shoot .38+p. I am really glad by accident I landed a nice one for $450 after looking a short time. I had to replace the aftermarket grips that came with it as they were way to big for the gun. I settled for these Altamont boot grips until I find something better. Everyone needs a M60 in MHO.

$450. Interesting coincidence. The gun I let pass me by was originally offered at 450, I countered at 400, and the guy wanted 425. I passed. This one was offered at 500, I countered at 450, and got it for 475. That was a $50 lesson.

As for grips, I'm partial to Ahrend's boot grips with finger grooves. Here's a pair on another one of my guns:
