Finding date of manufacture?

Is there a reference book or online database with this sort of info?

I bought a Model-19-3 No. 7K19483 and would like to know when it was made.

The most commonly quoted book is called "The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson" currently in the third edition. You can buy it at Amazon, among other places.

If your interest is primarily in S&W's made before 1977, the best book is "The History of Smith & Wesson" written by S&W's factory historian Roy Jinks. Much of the data in SCS&W came fom there.

Looks like your Model 19 was made about 1974.
