As close as this northern boy is gonna get to Chicago. All the main food groups, and courtesy of local Mexican restaurant for $4.50 on Fridays.

Gotta love a good hotdog!

Looks very, very Good. Sadly I'd never return to Chicago with the crime and politics there, 92 was last time. Back in late 70s- early 80s was a pretty good time.

Other than used to connect at airport, or drive around it on way to Pa, only been there once. And FEMA almost didn't let me in their Chicago office cause was wearing a jean jacket. Back in mid 1990's

I do. Tube steaks are always a favorite. We have a company in RI, that has been making hot dogs forever. They use a natural casing that snaps when you bite it. They are delicious. They cost 6.99 a pound now. :eek::eek:

I like them with green relish, brown mustard, and celery seed on a grilled bun.
For those who like spicy, I go to Dollar Tree, and get a few jars of green relish. Then I open one and put about half a tablespoon of crushed red pepper in it, mix it up put the cover back on and let it sit in the refrigerator for a few days.

PS... Write HOT on the top of the jar lid, so others do not use it by mistake:D

Dang, Zeke! That looks good!!

Over 40 years ago, there was this little shop tucked underneath some stairs about a block off the University of Oregon campus. It was called "Jeb's Big Dogs." Jeb was this big ol' fat dude wearing a little white paper cap and a once-white, usually stained, t-shirt that struggled to cover the huge gut hanging over a pair of loose-fitting jeans.

Jeb's dogs were to die for. You could tell that the man thoroughly enjoyed his work because he was sweating profusely as he zipped around his little 8'x8' work space. You'd walk up to the little Dutch door, give your order and then watch Jeb do his magic.

A large dog on a grilled bun, spicy hot mustard, kraut, onions, peppers. Man!! What a gut bomb!! That was over 40 years ago and I'm already starting to salivate!!:D

"The Steak Joint" up on the loop had outstanding steaks. Overall guess I spent a year around Chicago, lot and lots of Good Times. This was when Blue Island was an ok place. International machine tool show back in 82 was great old McCormick place where Life Magazine was printed back in the day. Roditity's in Greek Town on Halstead had fantastic food and wine.
 
I am in the Chicago area 4x a year. We stay up near Wisconsin in the Lake District and avoid the city. Hot dogs joints are in every town. I like them with a spicy brown mustard bu Narragansett's spicy relish has me considering a switch!

Ewwwwww! There ain't no cheese anywhere on a Chicago dog, that could get you thrown out of many a place in Chicago. Abuse of a hot dog would be the offense. Same with gaaah, ketchup.. Chicago native from the back of the 'Yards!

The traditional Chicago dog
has a sesame seed bun, Vienna
dog, yellow mustard, chopped
onions, dark green pickle relish,
slice of Kosher pickle and tomatoes,
couple of hot peppers,
all seasoned with celery salt.

But one place I used to frequent also
added thin slices of cucumber and
bell green papper.

Even in the dead of winter with temps
around 32 they were enjoyed while
sitting on outdoor benches (no indoor).

The stand was just north of the
Milwaukee/Central/Foster intersetion.
 
I get my dogs at Circle K and 7-11, now those are some yummy hot dogs!

I'm too lazy to make Chicago dogs, but they look good, and are very popular. Chicago street food must really rock, because I see it mentioned a lot, in a lot of different web platforms.
