Firearm Finish

Cerakote is the latest generation spray on, paint-type finish with the added element of ceramic; think improved DuraCoat or Gun-Kote.

It's well-reviewed for protection and durability; far from traditional, though. ;)

Can't describe all the specifications on Cerakote. However, I had a RIA 1911-A1 that had maybe 75% finish left. A gunsmith kindly worked it over for me... doing a few nice things to tighten it up, make it run well. He refinished it in black Cerakote. That was about four years ago, since then it has fired many thousands of rounds of 230 gr. hardball. Every night it sits on the night stand. The only wear on the entire pistol a extremely slight bit of wear on the sharp corner of the front of the slide on the left side of the slide. I think that for general use on a plebian shooter grade hangun, Cerakote is a good choice. JMHO. Sincerely. brucev.
