Got to shoot it at last! Ok I need practice lots of it but the gun is awesome. It never had one hiccup and the recoil is not bad at all. I've been working on racking it and got that down pretty good. I think I made the right choice. Looking forward to many more trips to the range.

Yup... It's nice little smooth shooter.
Not near as punishing as some of the other 3" barreled subcompacts out there. The Shield can be shot All Day without punishing your hand. :)

I had my new 9mm Shield at the range a few days ago and put 150 rounds through it. Not a hiccup with any ammo. Was quite pleasant to shoot and didn't beat my hands up -- and I'm 65 with arthritis in both hands. This is a great little pistol and quite accurate for its intended use. It's a winner!!

Yep, my shield is my favorite pistol to shoot. I don't know how they made a gun so small, yet so accurate and easy to shoot.

Shield pro?

I am in the process of purchasing a S&W Shield 9mm. Is there a pro version with an improved trigger? Seems like I.read an article on that but cant find a model number. Thanks if you know anything.

S&W does not sell a pro version of the Shield. However, I have no doubt they have made revisions since the introduction of the Shield. To identify the most recent version, look for a black box. The older versions have a blue box.

Edit: They did revise the trigger in the full size M&P line. So perhaps that is the confusion.

How new are you talking about when you refer to the "newer Version"? The test fire date on mine is 7/11/14 and it came in the blue box.

I have had a Shield going on two years and the trigger was fine when I bought it. I thought the Shield trigger was much better than the one in my M&P 45.

The release of the NTS version is the 'Newer Version', but there were no trigger (or other) upgrades done to it... Just the option of going 'No Safety. It was released Mid to Late July of this year.

The Black Box packaging may have been after that, but there have been no actual upgrades to the Shield itself.

Regardless of which Shield you have (TS or NTS) You have the latest version of the Shield that's out there. :)

Congrats on the Shield I have had mines now for about a month and love it, I was carrying it tonight at church I also order a G-Code Tactical holster for it and hope to get it soon.

Still looking at holsters and hope to buy one soon. Also going to put talon grips, new sights and have the trigger smoothed out by a gunsmith.
