I haven't done much with guns and shooting the last few years, other life events took over. I used to go to a small, local show every Memorial day weekend. I haven't gone to any shows in the last 3 years. I decided to check it out today, as I was going to a store that was in the area.
A large flea market goes along with it, flea market outside in the park, gun show inside in smaller exhibition halls. Unfortunately the building didn't open til noon, so I had to kill over a hour looking at flea market junk. Admission to building was ten bucks, which I thought was a little steep for the small venue.
Of course the majority was the latest plastic 9's, AR-15s, bolt rifles of the latest designer caliber. There was a good sized table of milsurp rifles and bayonets, but I'm not into that anymore.
I didn't see a single used Smith revolver, a few Ruger single actions. New revolvers were mostly Taraus, some Ruger and Colt. Very few Smiths, nothing I was interested in. Since I shoot more .22 now, I took a second look at a few Colt King Cobra .22lr. Couldn't quite break out a grand out of my pocket, though. Saw a new Bodyguard 2.0 for the first time, smaller than I thought. It would be nice to carry, I'm not sure how well I could shoot it.
I could have been tempted by a small gauge double or o/u, never had one. Only 12 ga, and not many of those. So I came home empty handed. Was it a waste of time? I guess I got out for a few hours, talked to few people, saw a few new things. Maybe next time.

Sounds a lot like the last shows I've attended here except the ones here allow the "flea market" to be inside with the guns. Which is good I guess if you went to the show to buy some jerky, a Pakistani knife, or maybe some pickled quail eggs.

Pickled quail eggs?...sounds pretty good. Find them in the high end jewelry section?

Gun shows around here have been lackluster for a little while with more tables consisting of beef jerky and other non-gun related stuff.

Years ago our gun club would rent a small bus and about 30 members would ride down to the Lakeland Fl gun show. Huge show in 2 halls with close to 400+ tables in each hall. Well late wifes health problems and mine have not been until the other weekend. Around 300 tables now but it is flat out the best gun show I’ve been to in many years. Very few plastic guns, some militaria but many fine old S&Ws in original boxes. Check out their next show if you are close enough.

I wanted to add that I was surprised by the number of new lever rifles, they must be on the upswing. Quite a few Henrys, some Marlin and Rossi. Only saw one S&W, no Winchester.
