Fitment of Hogue S&W J Frame Round Butt Bantam G10 grip on 1980's Model 60 2"

Hello everyone,

I recently acquired a stainless 2" Smith & Wesson Model 60 J frame, chambered in 38 spl. The serial number is: R331186, dating it to 1983. (Please see attached photo)

I would like to change the stock grips in order to preserve them, and to have something more comfortable during range practice.

I am thinking of getting the Hogue "S&W J Frame Round Butt Bantam G10 - G-Mascus Blue Lava" (S&W J Frame Round Butt Bantam G10 - G-Mascus Blue Lava)

I was wondering if any of you have had experience with these particular grips on this revolver model? Is the grip replacement and fitment simple? Would I need to purchase any other accessories/adapters/screws to make this change?

Many thanks in advance for any advice you can share.

I don't own a pair of those Hogue G-10 grips, but they're made for a round butt J frame and will fit your Model 60.

Rubber Hogue Bantam grips are one piece and slide on from the bottom of the grip frame without tools. You do need a special tool or a few credit cards to remove them.

The G-10 Bantam's you linked to are different. They're two piece and attach with a screw, just like your original factory stocks. All you'll need is a small slotted screwdriver.

A properly fitting screw driver might be the one tool you would wish to obtain.... buggered up screw slot can result from using the wrong sized screw driver ..

You have struck one of my pet peeves with your post, use of the word "Fitment". It does not mean "How does it fit", or "How do I fit it?" It is a British word and usually refers to furniture.

  1. a fixed item of furniture or piece of equipment, especially in a house.

I put the VZ brand G10 grips on my J without issue. They look similar to the Hogue Bantam Boot grips. No issues. I like the G10 grips a lot but they offer no cush if that's an issue for you. I didn't realize Hogue did G10. I put the Hogue wood Bantam Boot grips on my round butt N frame. I did have to put the previously removed roll pin back in it's hole in the butt on the N frame to achieve proper fitment

Before you get bent out of shape too much further, you might have a peek and notice that the member is located in Switzerland.

I suspect he is doing a better job with english, than you would do in his native tongue.

Thank you for this correction! Working in an international environment for over 10 years has really taken its toll on my english skills :)
