Looking at a 1948 5 screw K-22 . Revolver is in excellent condition but is missing original grips and box. Does 700.00 sound fair? What would correct grips for that gun look like ?

There is a big value difference between excellent and ANIB. To me, excellent shows some wear, therefore $700 is about all the money. If your gun's condition is very high (95% plus), then the price is good. If NIB we should be talking over $1000 today. The company made a lot of Masterpiece revolvers and most all are still around. My 1948 gun is K61189 that shipped in December of that year. Magna stocks with diamond, slightly rounded checkered corners, and a sharp corner on the shoulders of the stocks like the K22 below.

The gun is VERY close to the gun in photos. No scratches. Finish is all there. Etc. Just no box and original grips missing.
