Fixing Gritty Trigger With Striker Block Plunger

Anybody modified or replaced the Striker Block Plunger on the M&P?

I sent my M&P slide to Trijicon for new Night Sights. When they replaced the rear sight they did something and now the trigger is horribly gritty.
I've deduced that the Trigger Bar and Striker Block Plunger contact surfaces are the problem.
Any fixes?
I'm thinking about getting the APEX Radiused Striker Block Plunger.

M'Carbo has a kit for springs but I don't think it includes the plunger. I went with overwatch precision kits for my Shield Plus pistols and that does include one and it made a difference. I'm sure Apex will work well.

Seems odd that it's gritty now, maybe just needs a cleaning?

I've bought at least one slide that had some nasty burrs in the round hole the striker block moves up/down in. Cleaned those up and made that one much smoother.

You're correct that polishing the contact surfaces between the trigger bar and the striker block will smooth out/lighten the trigger pull some.

One way to check things out is to field strip the pistol, turn the slide over and use a pen to push the striker block into the slide and "feel" for drag/sticky spots. I wonder if they "lost" the plastic disc/spacer or spring when they pulled the old rear sight off and replaced something with a non standard part?

While you've got the slide off, pull the trigger and see if there's some drag/stickiness in the rearward movement of the trigger, trigger bar, sear housing parts. Checking frame and slide separately should help you locate the area of the problem so you can focus on it better.

The "chamfered/beveled" block vs the "roundish" block is a huge difference. My own 9c (1.0) still has the OG block. While the pull is smooth, I can feel the trigger bar pushing the block upwards (almost like a 2 stage trigger), then sliding along the flat until I hit the sear. On reset, I can also feel when it slides off the bevel feeling almost like a double reset. This is really only noticeable on very slow dry fires.

My Full size M&P9 (1.0) currently wear the 5" Ported CORE slide that has the rounded block (came that way so don't know who made it). The staginess and double reset are gone.

Both have 2.0 trigger bars and sear housings but the issues above were due to the block.

The Apex one would work well. You'll need to remove the rear sight.

Another option is to polish the current block to reshaped it a bit. There's the Burwell DIY Trigger job listed here:

You don't need to do the whole thing, just the parts you want (like the striker block).

The 10 degree trigger bar also helps along side the radiused safety plunger.
