After waiting a while, the wind finally cooperated a little so I could get a good picture of the flags that adorn my yard. I'm a self confessed "flag nut" but these are what's on the pole now although the USA banner is there 24/7/365! Some may ask what the one on the right is - its the Pittsburgh Pirate Jolly Rodger of course!

Flying the Battle Flag around here would get my house "aired out". I used to fly the 1st National cause none of the goofs around here new what it was. Right now the American Flag in front of the house and Missouri Battle Flag on truck front plate.

Yep, I know what you mean "JcMack"! I usually do the same thing with my CSA flags and switch them around often. Those flags mean something historically special to me and in no way mean hatred. Sad that so many have lost track of that!

Don't have to worry about that down here in Dixie!!! :)

I don't have a flagpole

We don't have a flagpole. If I have any Confederate heritage I'm not aware of it so I don't do Confederate flags, but we do fly the Stars and Stripes often in the form of smaller flags on the porch.

I "ad-libbed" a flag pole out of a 25 ft. sapling to raise an American flag at the end of the driveway a couple of days after 9/11/01 ....later.....decided to keep it flying until "the war" was over..........

on about my 10th flag....... but holding onto that homemade pole as long as possible!!!!

Since were speaking of the battle flag, where is a good place to buy a nice cloth one with brass grommets? All I see around here are those cheap "silk" screen print pieces of junk.

Hey "ringo" ~ There are a few places that sell them and if you give me some time to gather it, I'll send you the info. I can tell you however that an accurate well made cotton flag can get quite expensive. A few years back when I was heavy into civil war re-enacting, I checked into them and had to pass. I was lucky however in having a wife that's pretty darn good with a sewing machine. So, with her expertise and my research into a lot of authentic battle flags, she made me one. I'll take a picture of it later and post it for you. I might be able to convince her to make another one ;) !

Update - Best I could do today because its raining out but here's the flag my friend. This is made to them exact specs I could find and its 4X4. It also doesn't have grommets in it as I don't think the originals did. She made re-enforced "button holes" to attach it to the pole via rawhide ties. I think she would make another and if you're interested, I have the abitlit to put grommets in. Let me know what you think.

We don't have a pole in the yard as of yet and we currently only have the stars and stripes on one of those wood poles that mounts to the side of the house.

Future plans however, include more than one yard pole so we can also fly a POW/MIA, Georgia (the previous version that had the Rebel flag on it), Marine and A.F flags.

Here's the previous version...........the one I liked.

Here's the new version...........I'm not at all happy with the goobers that caved in and let this happen.

The only redeeming quality on this one is, they got "In God We Trust" back on there. The tag office even gives away free "IN GOD WE TRUST" stickers for your car tag and the best part is, it covers up the county name.

We fly the US flag and Pow/MIA flags here. Had the halyard break recently and had to take the flagpole down and replace it. I sure did miss seeing the flags those couple days.
My neighbors also fly the US flag as we're a pretty patriotic bunch around here.

I respectfully beg to differ. What you have now as a state flag is the Stars and Bars. With the adoption of the 1st National flag you have effectively one upped the goofs.
