Yep, it’s that time of year in southern Nevada. Lots of evidence that Darwin knew what he was talking about.

The higher ground theory doesn't always work out like you think.

That's true. I'm old enough to remember Camille (68) here in Virginia. Most all the real damage and death toll was in the mountains as walls of water came down and just swept things away. You can still see some of the bare spots on the sides of the mountains. Some of the missing have never been found.

It took 70 plus days but we finally got a good rain storm yesterday. I am glad no flooding. One of those times where I hope all goes well for those in any paths of storms of whatever type.

This summer has been the time for serious rain which in many cases makes serious flash floods.

Up here in Northern NY we lost a bunch of major roads and had general nuisance floods all over. A couple roads by me got decimated. That makes things interesting for the small towns to fix (All hands on deck) and of course to pay for it.-

The reservoir AKA lake I live on is extremely high as I type this. If it was not for this reservoir there would have been serious damage along the Hudson River all the way to NY City.

For me, I have had property here since 1985 and never saw anything like this summer. Talking with people that have been up her longer they say the same things.

I had my rather steep driveway wiped out twice. Got two 10 wheedlers full of crushed rock to do the rebuild job- Twice So glad I have my medium size New Holland tractor to do the serious work, of course had a bit of major hand raking to finish the job right!

The only serious warning we got about the rain coming was on the weather part of the local news and the constant extremely loud warning that takes over the TV and about blows you ears out.

Better times are a coming----------I hope!
