I hope this is the place to post about non-S&W guns. Just took a 112 year old FN 1899 .32 acp pistol to the range. Functioned perfectly. I'm trying to disassemble it for cleaning, but for the life of me, I can't get the breech block screws out. From what I can find on disassembling the FN 1900, they should just turn out. Am I missing something, some difference in disassembly between the Model 1899 and 1900? They're pretty much the same gun. I hope someone here knows something about these guns. This is the forum I like to visit for help. Smith & Wesson forum rocks!

Just unscrew them and pull the breechblock out of the slide. Now if someone in the past Loc-Tited them, put Iodine on them (old way to lock threads), or they are simply rusted that is a different matter. But, they should simply unscrew!

Your sure that it's exactly the same as the Model 1900, just unscrew them? There's no little trick that I have to do, like maybe removing the safety or something? If they're just Loc-tited, then how do I remove them? Thanks so much for your reply! I also have penetrating oil that I can try if they're rusted in there.

If they have been Red Loc Tited (is that a word) apply heat to the head of the screw with a soldering iron and then try to turn them, The slots appear to already be buggered so be sure to use a good gunsmithing screw driver.

Edit:

Appears your answer is on the other forum you posted on

The screws start turning ever so slightly, about 1 or 2mm. Then they stop. Would this indicate loc-tite or rust?
