After watching these two FN 24/30 ABL 1952's for over two months, I finally went for them. Made post WWII by FN for the Belgium army (500) and navy (500).

Rumor has it that many we destroyed at some point for reasons unknown to me. The army one has the metal surfaces coated with a black enamel coating and the navy is coated the same but in grey.

Can any forum members add to the above information? I know another batch was made for the Belgium Congo and more for Israel around the same time frame.

Years ago I paid $88 for a Norinco .22 trainer on the classic Mauser design and gave it to my son. He immediately informed me that it's a needle-threader, and he and his three boys still shoot it today.

I took both FN's to the club tonight to see what they would do. Once I settled in I managed dime sized groups at 25 yards off the bench using the stock sights.

Everything worked as it should & I am pleased with the purchase.
