I was over at the gun club today at lunch and they had a new M&P 45c in the case. I've been looking forward to this model for a while and this was the first I'd actually seen one.
Initial impression is that it is quite a bit larger than what I was expecting. Overall length is about the same a 1911 commander with a beavertail. Overall height is close but it is a little bit shorter. It's very close in proportion to my Sig C3 which is a 1911 with a commander length slide on an officer length grip frame. I was expecting something closer in size to a Glock 30.
Trigger pull was about the grittiest of any M&P I've dry fired yet. For me the jury is still out on this one. It is quite a bit larger and a little heavier than the compact 9mm and .40 versions. The grip did feel a little short, but it had a flat baseplate on the magazine. The pictures that I have seen of them have a finger rest extension to the magazine. I didn't think to ask at the time if it was similar to the other M&P compacts that come with one of each. Du'oh!
