There are good arguments for both. Since most of my shooting and training was in the LE setting, and most of that with semi-auto pistols, they are the better choice based on skill set, IF using a handgun. I would not feel at a real disadvantage with any of my revolvers, but realistically the best choice I have is my AR. Better ballistics, better hit probability due to ergonomics etc, and an Aimpoint H1 for more rapid target acquisition, with the mounted Fury to ensure adequate light to know what the potential target is. This year will be the first since 2007 that I will not be doing a carbine course with Pat Rogers due to my schedule prohibiting it; these classes are the best and most recent training I have had.
If someone is actually trying to get in the house I have a big problem, as they have already come over a 6' fence and are not discouraged by the sound of the dogs (who are not kidding when they sound off).
