Can you tell me a fair price to ask for my 98% 986 revolver? My arthritis is getting so bad as I am having a problem pulling the triggger. I have about 30 moon clips and a holster, pluss demooner.(Screw driver type).
What are they bringing these days please ???
Thank you all in advance.

SCSW 4th edition says $950 in excellent condition and $1250 ANIB.

Thanks for your service!

I can't help you out with a value of you 986, however I can identify with arthritis and 2 years in RVN. Only burning up 22 lr ammo now.

Looking on gunstroker they seem to be all over the board. The short barreld one's seem to bring a bit more than the 5" versions though. You don't mention whether you have the box and paperwork or not. But if it's the 5" version I'd say $750ish with shipping. The holster might add some value depending on what it is...

Since it's a current production gun, find out what new ones sell for in your area and subtract some percentage for it being used. 10% might be a good start point.

Selling prices over the last 90 days at a famous auction site are:
  • $851 Pro series 5" w/ box
  • $731 Pro series 5" w/box
  • $755 Pro Series 5" w/box
  • $680 Pro Series 5" w/box
  • $1,000 Pro Series 5" w/box
  • $700 Performance Center 2.5" barrel
  • $765 Pro Series 5" w/box

Average selling price of $783. Shipping $10-35.

EDIT: They all claimed used but mint condition and a cursory glance seemed to confirm that.

I was looking for 1 myself a short while back. (5") Probably at the same sight. At the time, it would have taken $800-$850+. I bid on around 6 of them and lost. They had the box, but no extras. Bought a 29-3, 6" instead. Bob
