Now a daze it's more like "The early bird gets the toilet paper". I te'ya I kinda feel like a wild animal...gotta go out every morning and scrounge up something to eat and a few necessities. But I went out this morning and was hoping to confirm my "system" of getting in and out early. It seems to be a good working system.
I SCORED 2 HUGE PACKS OF TOILET PAPER!!

Thanks again to a local friend for the heads up at Food Town. This local chain declared the time from 0700 to 0800 to be for seniors over the age of 65. I couldn't wait. I expected that to be pretty much of a "gimme".
But unfortunately it was a bust. I am fairly certain that that store has never had that many people in it at one time. I had to park behind Walgreens and just barely found a spot there. I got in the store and the aisles were packed with old folks standing and walking around behind empty shopping carts with a dazed look on their faces. The store had very little to sell and none of the stuff that people are wanting now. No meat or eggs. Plenty of fresh fruits and veggies. Canned good and pasta, gone . Some frozen foods but it was pretty well picked over.
So I left Food Town worried about getting off to such a bad start. But things picked up for me in Walmart. I actually found some 100watt light bulbs. First time I've seen those. They had things like peanut butter, there otc drugs and vitimins were well stocked. picked up a few odds and ends like bbq sauce, the last two boxes of success rice.
HEB is where I hit gold. I was the 3rd person in the store when it opened at 0800. I ran directly to the paper aisle and there in all it's glory was a huge pile of large bundles of toilet paper-limit 2. I grabbed my 2 and slipped out of the way like Muhammad Ali doing the rope a dope. From the sounds I heard as I fled it got pretty busy right there. Not sure though I never looked back.
Next I got a couple more jugs of distilled water. Use it for the C-Paps and coffee maker. Then on to the pasta aisle and found good stocks of spaghetti, elbow macaroni, wide noodles and the like. Limit of 4. They had butter and eggs and some meat but no chicken. The bakery and bread aisle looked good. Plenty of frozen foods of all kind. Got 2 big boxes of frozen waffles, a main-stay around here. Pancake mix and syrup no limit.
I feel like I am at safe levels of just about everything now. all I have to do is maintain my reserves and try not to get to low on anything. We may get sick but we won't be hungry, thirsty,or...dirty.
