Found a 10-5 at the gun show. Seeking some info.

Brought home a model 10-5 from the gun show.



Hoping to learn when it was manufactured. Serial number D320656.

Also wondering if the finish is original. Ones I've seen tend to be glossy blued or nickel. Never seen a matte finish before.

Thanks in advance for the info if anyone has it.

Edit to add: it came with a set of chipped/cracked grips. Possibly mother of pearl on a wood backing, but they looked pretty rough so I threw on the hogue grip.

the finish looks to be a refinish using the parkerized ,maybe bead blasted method,the grips sound like jay scott's......not sure of the date of your gun,someone will be by with the answer.

Neat little k frame. I am not sure of the date of manufacturer, but that finish isn't original. It's hard to tell (looking at this on my phone so its kind of small), but it looks like there is pitting UNDER the finish. That's a sign of a re finish.

That parkerized finish should take a lot of abuse unlike the original blue. I'm assuming it wasn't nickel.

Made in 1969-70.

By looks, a nice find. Can't tell from the pic if that's a bead blast blue, parkerized, or spray on finish. It's nice, whichever. Unlikely it's factory original, though some K's left the factory over the years with a matte, bead blast blue that looks quite similar to yours -- don't know of a Model 10 from this one's era that ever did, though.

Alternately, it could be a factory matte reblue -- S&W currently offers that.
