Last night my wife caught her hand on a pantry door and she heard her diamond hit the tile floor and bounce a time or two. We, mostly she, spent 4 hours on the floor looking for it. I used up most of the batteries in my Surefire and a couple of regular lights.

Today I duct taped an old shop vac hose to the regular vacuum with a piece of pantyhose in between as a filter. I pushed the hose as far down the two furnace ducts in the kitchen as I could. When she pulled out the "filter" I saw the diamond fall out onto a piece of paper we had under it.

She has had the diamond for 41 years and was really upset about loosing it. Since I was a college student when I bought it, it wasn't all that big and easy to spot on the floor. She is now happy and therefore my life will be happy.

I still find it hard to believe we found it.

My wife has "lost" one of her diamond stud earrings at least three times that I know of. Found on the floor mat of the car, next to the door once, in the shower right next to the drain once, and in the hallway against the baseboard once. I keep asking her to take them in and have better posts/backs put on them....

I can imagine the relief your wife feels!

I know a widow who was extremely upset she lost her wedding ring. She searched and backtracked for days until she luckily found it.

What had happened is that when she went to lift the soda case off the floor of her car, the ring caught between the soda and the back of the front seat and came off. She has since had the ring re-sized.

This reminded me of a story....not about a diamond, but I was fishing once in Ocean City, NJ. I had a brand new lure on the line. On my first cast, I snagged something and lost the lure. I was so aggravated that I tied on about six hooks with leaders in between (to spread them out like a hand), then cast out to the same place. Reeling in and I felt I slight snag but when I got it back to the beach I had succesfully retrieved the lure. My wife, who had stood there laughing when I made up 'the rig', could not believe that I had retrieved that lure. On the way home, she made me stop to buy a lottery ticket.:D
That didn't work out so well.
