Are you shooting SASS? Because I make do with 100 357 cases and 100 44 Mag cases for casual plinking.

No competition shooting. I just like to have brass on hand for reloading. And I love to reload;)

I received the brass yesterday, so Steinel is good to go.

I got a thousand plus once Fired Winchester from an auction. Price was 35 dollars...but It is all nickled cases. Not too big a deal cause I'll know what it is when I shoot it. A friend prevailed on me to sell him a couple hundred for 30 bucks so I did. Gave him 49 158 gr Speers to boot They were in the box with a few other partial boxes

When I load my SASS rounds, I start with 45 Colt. Then 45 S&W Schofield, 44-40, 44 Special, and 44 Russian. They all use the same shell plate on my Dillon 450/550. After that 45 ACP then 38/357.

I've been playing with 300 Blackout, 30 Carbine and 357 Sig, so I've changed shell plates in the last year than in the previous decade!

When I started SASS shooting, I already had over 500 45 Colt brass. I won several hundred as door prizes, bought a few thousand new and every used case I could find! I ended up with about 5500. I had 1400 in 44-40, but sold the guns and ammo to another shooter. I bought 1000 44 Russian Top Brass from Midway, the first firing about 1/3 split, another 300 split on the second firing. At this point I had a few hundred Starline, and no problems with them. I have about 200 Top Brass yet to be fired the third time, soon I'll have no mor junk Top Brass left!

45 Colt and 45 ACP and 38/357 are the only hand gun brasses that I have over 5000 each of. (223 being the only rifle [20,000]) I really like to load a cartridge once a year, but when two sons and a son-in-law were shooting with me, we were going through close to 4000 rounds in a 4-day weekend with all the practice, and side matches and main 3-day event! I did have enough 45 Colt still loaded to just squeeze by, and only because one son shoots 38's!

Since Covid hit, I never see bags of used brass cheap. Everyone thinks they are made of 24 Karet gold, and price it as such!

Steinel Ammo has .357 Mag Starline cases for less than $.17 each with tax and shipping. I just ordered 1K.

That is a good deal

I can not remember the days when I set up to load only 100 of handgun cartridge.

I always load at least 1000 before changing the press over.

For my auto-loading pistols I have switched to mostly nickel now just to make it easier to spot at the outdoor range. I sort it into 5 gallon buckets to get ready for tumbling

I have at least half a 5 gallon bucket of brass for every handgun cartridge I shoot

Once I tumble the brass, I put it in the old pretzel jars

You must not be shooting very many matches or you enjoy reloading between matches. I prefer to do all of my reloading during the winter so I don’t have to worry about running out during the shooting season.

1000 cases is more than I could ever use. Given the fact that they're probably good for 5-6 reloads depending on your load, that's a lot of ammo. I bought 500 from Starline several years ago and I still have a few hundred that have never been loaded. Starline .357 is backordered right now but it wouldn't take long to get an order of 1K for the same price (0.17 ea) with free shipping.

My last order with Starline was 38 Short Colt. Shipped within a week.

Brass does not expire or go bad...super expensive rifle brass might be different, but for handgun or small caliber rifle I like to buy 1000 at a time. My grandkids will enjoy some nice shiny new free brass when they divi up my stuff...

My new 100 Starline 357 brass is now old & well used. Got about 15 loadings.

??? 5 or 6? I have .44 mag brass with 20 or more loadings on them and .38 and .357 that I've been using since the 80s. I'm running another 2K batch of them right now. If you don't over expand for the bullet seating, good pistol/revolver brass will last a very long time.

Agree I have 357 magnum and 38 special and 45 Colt brass that has been loaded at least 15 times each.
