What the hell, I'll bite. I just let my membership drop a while back because I got sick of all the phone calls. However, there is no doubt in my mind that they are the most worthwhile organization there is as far as perserving our rights as gun owners.

unclefish & jframe;
Thanks for the posts; my membership ran out, and I'm more
worried about buyng food. I still hated letting my membership
lapse, though.
It's a bad economic time. but at least I'll have a copy of
AM/RIFLE to while away the time I used to spend eating. TACC1

Please don't let the phone calls and mailing stop you from remaining an NRA member.
Just contact them via email and request they save some money by dropping you from the contact list. Let them know that you will support them with additional donations when you can.

I quit them a while back because of the calls and mailings begging for money, money, money! I just signed up for the one year freebie to give them another chance. I just don't want to be BUGGED all the time, especially at 8:30 PM.

They don't give away the magazines with the free memberships.

Anybody that doesn't want the calls and solicitations, like Mickey said above, just e-mail or call them and have them place you on the "Do Not Promote" list. It takes all of 3 minutes. I've never received a phone call and receive maybe one piece of correspondence through the mail every few months.

Taken straight from the NRA Members area:
Q: How can I reduce the amount of mail I receive from the NRA?
A: Simply email us at [email protected] or dial 800-NRA-3888 and request to be placed on the "Do Not Promote" list. This will significantly reduce the amount of mail you receive without affecting important mailings, magazine service, or your membership renewal.

Yes, it's that easy.
