Friday the Government (EPA) announced their intention to regulate six gasses, which they have found to be pollutants. They claim this finding is based upon "Science".
The only kind of science represented here is political science.
This is a colossal power grab by the EPA (Federal Government). Very literally this will allow the Feds to regulate (tax) every aspect of our lives, including the air we exhale. This is the first step to "Cap &Trade" and the infamous cow belch tax.
Carbon Dioxide and Methane are a part of, and essential to life on this planet; forget the other four which are already heavily regulated.
(As an aside you probably all know the common name for Methane it is Natural Gas.)
Because these gasses are a part of what used to be called the carbon-oxygen life cycle on Earth, even the Feds can not in any meaningful sense regulate the levels of the two, what they can do is tax them.
Quote:--------------------------------------------------------
"The EPA lumped carbon dioxide with five other gases -- methane, nitrous oxide, hydro-fluorocarbons, per-fluorocarbons and sulfur hexafluoride -- into a single class for regulatory purposes. That's because they share similar properties: All are long-lived and well-mixed in the atmosphere; all trap heat that otherwise would leave the earth and go into outer space; and all are "directly emitted as greenhouse gases" rather than forming later in the atmosphere."
------------------------------------------------- end Quote.
Only dunces would conflate these gases: Carbon Dioxide = Sulphur Hexafluoride??? Lord give us strength in our time of trial!
This is like lumping men and rifle bipods on the grounds that they both have two legs and are sometimes used to support a rifle.
For any of you interested in the science of atmospheric carbon dioxide I can recommend:

(Probably not for the technically challenged.)
