Free Bullets

Bought myself a new Hornady LNL just after Christmas so I will be getting one thousand free bullets.

The only ones that interest me are the 45 cal. in two offerings, 185 gr hp/xtp and 185 gr swc tar enc (tar enc?) .451dia.

I've never fired bullets this lite in a 45 acp what are they good for? I shoot some informal IDPA stuff at the local range I'm guessing they will be OK for that.

Haven't got to use the LNL yet, but it sure looks like a sweet setup.

What are some thoughts.

Not sure what yours choices are in the free bullets, but for IDPA I use 200 or 230 gr in .45 ACP to make major power (165PF) without having to use high velocity. The heavier bullet at lower velocity makes recovery easier.

Yes 200 and 230gr is what I've been using but, the free bullets are 185 gr.

I found out what tar/enc stands for, it's "target encapsulated." So I got that going for me.

This is the 185gr SWC TAR ENC.

You may have trouble getting that to feed in your pistols. If you're dead set on the 45 cal bullets, I'd go for the XTP.

Thanks Dragon88. Sure wish they would bump that offer up to 200 or 230gr., that would be better. But free is good so I will go with the xtp and be happy.
