French inventor Franky Zapata is first person in history to cross English Channel on jet-powered hoverboard not much bigger than a tea tray


Pretty Amazing. His first attempt had so problems refusing. He then tried again and made it, around 22 miles across speeds over 100 mph!

Pretty nifty! Not to quibble, but he did need to land in a boat mid channel and refuel by switching to a new kerosine fuel backpack.

I think it has potential as a recreational device, but doubt that it will be of use to the military, as the inventor hopes.

UAVs, I bet, are better for military applications. (Heck, UAVs — to include RPVs, drones, etc. — are better than piloted aircraft for some military applications now, and ere long, I think, they will surpass piloted aircraft for all military applications.)

If in the USA it would be subject to fuel economy, MPG restrictions and have a catalytic converter.

Cool but this will never, ever be used by the military.

The learning curve to (safely) fly one is WAAAYYY too long. That’d be time better spent on other training.
