Freshening up a set of Magna Grips

I have a set of N-Frame Magnas with the diamond for my 28, and they are tired...not gouged or ragged, but finish is "toast" and the checkering needs to be sharpened up...I am thinking of sending the gun back to Smith for a good factory servicing and re-finish to look and feel like it did when it was new...but I know that i need to get the grips worked on by someone else...any thoughts...I can refinish the finish, but the re-work on the checkering is beyond my skill set and tool bench...
