Raining Friday morning so deceided to cast a few. I purchased 3 boxes of wheel weight alloy from a Cast Boolit memeber. One box weighed 52 pounds, a second 49. I didn’t weigh the third.

I opened the third box & found ingots cast in angle moulds appox. 7-8” in length. I loaded the Magma pot & prepared 3 moulds, 2 Lyman 4 cavities, a 358429 & a 358156. The third mould, a 2 cavity, the RCBS 44-300-SWC.

Once the melt was 750 degrees & the moulds preheated, the casting began. Using each mould in rotation I cast the entire third box. You can see the results in the pictures below.

The alloy is fine stuff. I didn’t flux at all, just cast at 750 using a steady pace till the ingots & sprues were all used. The 38 bullets measured .359 & the 44s were .431. All were air cooled testing 14 BHN.

It was a nice morning……………Creeker

Looks like you turned a rainy day into a good day. Now when the sun comes out you can shoot until you can't shoot any more... lol
