It's in excellent condition. Box, 4 spare mags, papers, etc...

And I have a Glock 48 MOS with night sights...

So should I trade? I don't carry that 48 at all.. just sits there in the safe.

That is a personal decision only you can make. It all depends on how much you actually like the M3913. Will you shoot the 3913 more than the Glock? Maybe you should just sell the Glock and get something you really want instead.

I sold both of my Glocks (9mm and 45acp), years ago, and bought a nice 3913. It's my only S&W semi-auto. No regrets at all.

Considering the difficulty of finding factory 8rd magazines for the 3913/908 series, the magazines alone are worth some money nowadays. ;)

If the 3913 has been well cared for, and not 'modified' - and especially if it's a later production model (Wide barrel tab, MIM hammer/trigger, etc) - it's a pretty nifty single stack metal-framed TDA gun.

I still use my original 3913 ('98 production), which mysteriously came with the slide machined for the then-new spring-loaded, decock-only option offered to LE at the time of its introduction, and also have a late-production 3913TSW. The 3913TSW was a former duty weapon I was able to buy for a song and a dance, after hand-selecting it from the handful of unissued models we still had in the armory at the time, and which I then carried for a very short period before we transitioned to plastic.

I was prepared to buy a 908S I'd found on consignment in a local store, for $650, because it was in mint LNIB condition, and I was really wanting to supplement my 3913. Luckily for me, we were offered the opportunity to buy 1 former pistol from our former duty weapon inventory, so I was able to pass on the 908S and buy the 3913TSW for a steal of a deal. :)

Glad to see you around and posting, BTW.

I've carried one since 1989, and have accumulated spares and extra mags along the way. For civilian concealed carry I much prefer a DA/SA over a striker fired gun.

I "tried" to like Glocks back in the 90s .... owned 3..... none lasted more than 6 months...... IIRC at least one went towards a 3914 another for a 6906.

I would do that deal especially with 4 mags!

Hogue still offers rubber and better yet wood grips [smooth and checkered} for the 3rd gen 39xx guns.

Well instead I traded a Good Times Outdoors AR I picked up for $500 a few years ago.

Neat thing is the guy had the original box and papers plus... a blue hammer and trigger with spur on it. No it is not going on the 3913... it is going on a 3914 I have! Also he had 4 finger rest floor plates for the four mags!

Yes this old 3914! An old 'Ladysmith' that has seen better days.

And how to swap the hammer!!! Just got to make sure a few parts don't fall out while taking a set of pins out!!! And hopefully the sear and trigger work with the new hammer without any adjustments.

Have you made up your mind to trade yet?

Whatcha waiting for? Your friend might come to his senses and withdraw his offer!

A True Friend! 3913 vs G48?

He might know what he is doing.
I have a few friends like that.
I want to BE a friend like that, which I have had a few chances to do in my life.

I think the deciding factor would be the optics.
I do not believe the 3913 is best for an optic.
It is best for slim inside the waistband carry.
T shirt, Jeans, Tennis Shoes, and 3913 IWB.
Socks optional.
9mm required!

If you are ever going to put an optic on a CCW gun, then the Glock will be ideal.
Why people do that is beyond me. Except if you are one of the young ones who has trained with the dot and you are good with a dot, it is pointless to now learn open sights. There are even special holsters which the young people use to put this pistol, optic included, down the front of their pants. Conceals just fine.
Draws quick, quick enough to win IDPA.
These are slim athletic competition types you understand. Nobody with a Boomer beer gut needs to try this.

I think the deciding factor would be safety.
The 3913 with the chamber loaded and the safety engaged is plenty safe enough to put down the front of your pants.
One must still use proper re-holstering technique including 1) watch the gun into your pants, and 2) place your thumb on the back of the hammer so that you can feel it if some obstruction is pushing the trigger. Other safe techniques are advocated here on our forum.

To my young Glock friends, you must install the Glock Striker Control Device, or all bad things will happen! Puppies and kittens will be born with birth defects, and more alien spaceships will come do probe experiments on innocent individuals who walk on country roads at night! One day, when you shoot a hole in part of your reproductive apparatus, we will not cry for you Argentina, and we will not visit you in the hospital either.

The device will enable you to use this thumb technique when holstering your gun. Available from Langdon Tactical Technologies for the slim-frame, model 48, Gen5 at a price of $84.95. It does not fit the Model 42.

Some people consider a 4" gun a full-size gun and the 3.5" bbl on the 3913 makes it a compact. Meh...
Some people think 10+1 rounds is way better than 8+1 rounds. Meh...

I got a 3913NL from a brother here on this forum after reading comments from 18DAI whom I miss often.
I am very happy with it. It is necessary to shoot heavier rounds. Mine likes the 147 grain HST by Federal.
It is necessary to hold the front sight directly over covering up the point of impact. The 115 grain rounds will hit several inches low at 12 yards, and 147 will hit POA.

Congratulations on the trade!
Show us the targets when you get a range day with it!
