Front sight mounted sling useless for offhand support?

With all I've read about affecting accuracy if you have any stress on the barrel does that mean a sling mounted on the front sight is strictly for carry and cannot be used as stabilization for offhand shooting?

Or is it a matter of accuracy not being ultra critical if you're taking an offhand shot so using the sling is fine for support?

If you pull the rifle in real tight ( downward/sideways) your accuracy could slip. Alot of pulling will affect the P.O.I. For bench/supreme accuracy shooting this could be a factor but for defensive style work no problem. You probably wont even notice.

That's reassuring. When shooting offhand I'll be happy to keep my shots in a 10" circle at 100 yards so clover-leaf accuracy is not a requirement. But I didn't want the sling to be making my shot so inconsistent that I get frustrated.

I don't shoot rifles offhand a lot, but I do shoot cameras with long lenses. Having a strap to wrap my off arm into makes a world of difference in getting a steady hold

If you hold it real tight and do a bunch of mag dumps, it's going to reform your barrel to the point it'll eventually be pointing back at you, so be careful!!!
