Hello everyone,
I need some advice please. As a new owner to MP 9L CORE I did not realize i'll have issues with a proper grip.

I have rather small hands. But I had a great success with proper grip on my XDm with a small backstrap.

I have noticed I can't comfortably grip 9L CORE - with the smallest backstrap - the middle of the frontstrap comes to my center of my middle phalanx', making very unconfortable to hold round-ish grip. if I put a medium size backstrap - center of the frontstrap moves to the distal inter-phalangeal joint in both cases I do not have a proper grip, or at least I feel it this way.

How do you grip FS M&P? Thank you in advance.

Just a thought

I have large hands as well and with my FS M&Ps (5 so far) I've settled on the Medium grip, but for a non-obvious reason. I've shot 1911s for over 45 years and got pretty set concerning where the front strap and MSH should be in my hand. I found this approach DID NOT translate to the M&P. I believe it's because of the trigger and the fact it requires a bit more leverage to use properly (i.e., so the sight alignment is not disturbed). Instead what I used was an approach more akin to me shooting my revolvers. I've shot wheelguns in both IPSC and Bullseye since 1979 and used that experience to master the M&P. That translation was far more useful to me than from a 1911. Just a thought.

I let my trigger finger determine which backstrap I use. I'm looking for the pad on my trigger finger to be centered on the trigger when the web of my hand is centered on the centerline of the pistol. For me this is the large grip, but the length of the fingers has more to do with this than the size of your hands. I have used Apex FSS triggers for over a year and the resting position of the trigger is noticeably farther to the rear than the stock trigger so maybe that has something to do with which backstrap I use.

Here's my technique for determining which backstrap to use. Grip the gun so that when the arm is extended directly down to the floor the gun is in a straight line with the major bones of the forearm. Then put your finger on the trigger. In my case I want the distal inter-phalangeal on the trigger. If I cannot get that much finger on the trigger, I go with a smaller backstrap. If I can get past the distal inter-phalangeal, I use a larger backstrap.

Its nice to have the ability to change back straps to help with getting the best control over the grip and trigger but for me , if I can get any part of my finger on the trigger I can shoot it. Just does not matter much to me exept with heavy double action triggers . Guess I'm old enough you just dealt with what you were shooting.

Watch some of hickok45 videos. Hes got hands like a pro basket ball player yet can shoot micro pistol better than most can that have owned them for years .
