A belated after-action report of the gun show at the Ft Worth Amon Carter Exhibit Hall. Boy, that place is HUGE! They had perhaps 1600 to as many as 1800 tables, and they were all taken. I saw everything at least twice and by Sunday my dogs were barking! They had a good crowd, even on Sunday there was a steady stream of people. They had enough black rifles to equip the whole American force in Afghanistan, and there were table after table of new pistols, both plastic and otherwise. The vendors must have known their market; there were large crowds around these tables and people standing in line to make out their 4487s. I didn't find all that much; I was trying to add to my S&W 39 collection (three pistols) without success. There was a very nice 39 no dash, better than mine, but the extractor surface was wavy and I didn't know how much shooting it would stand. On Sunday the table next to ours came out with a lovely 39-2 that according to them had sat in a gun safe for 20 years. It looked lile it had gone directly from the production line into the safe, but it didnt' have a box or tools, which mine did so I passed. No S&W Victorys. I was also looking for a 22 on a Colt 1911; I don't know why as I have two 4 cavity 45 moulds and a 50 cal ammo box full of brass. There were plenty of the Chiappa Pumas, at low prices. I have a 22/45 conversion unit ( actually I have two, now both for sale), and there were a lot of the Rock Island 45s; for a little haggling you could have one for about $360. Bu I definatively scratched my itch with a LNIB Colt Service Ace, probably from the 70-80s. Some milsurps, including lots of Moisin-Nagants and a few US service arms. It's a long drive from El Paso, but I'm planning to make the same show next year.
