A few weeks back I bought a full size M&P in 9mm from Buds Police Supply (requires LE or Mil creds). At that time the final cost was $350 after a $50 rebate from S&W (still waiting on that). The gun I received had night sights, no manual safety, a nice plastic case, and three 17 round magazines. For various reasons, I didn't get to shoot it until today.

I put 100 rounds (Federal and Magtech) FMJ through it today. Function was 100% flawless, both slow and rapid fire. The hardest part was loading the magazines (I need another Uplula). The only surprise was that the empty casings landed almost at my feet; some shells did bounce off parts of my body at low speed. I don't normally try to police brass after leaves are falling (too hard to find them) but these were almost in a pile so I picked them up.

Overall, I'm quite pleased with this handgun as well as its baby brother (9mm Shield).

I carried the M&P 9mm for 5 years at my other department. I retired and am at another department (University Police). We are issued Glock 22. I purchased the S&W M&P 22CA and enjoyed shooting it due to low cost of ammo I went out and purchased a new M&P 9mm. I really enjoy shooting that 22LR 22CA. The grip feel is still the best in the business and it a natural pointer. I shoot the Glock well but I hate the grip and angle, it's not a natural pointer in my hands.

Did you clean and lube it prior to shooting? Sometimes the inexpensive FMJ ammo doesn't recoil with enough gusto to eject the empties properly if the gun is run dry or with the factory corrosion preventatives still present.

Love my 9FS.
