I am considering getting a Galco Ankle Glove. The strap or garter is optional. I will be carrying a model 36 with a 2" barrel. Will I need the optional strap?

I don't plan on doing any running just walking.

I would appreciate any comments.

Thanks in advance.

I have a similar design with the Renegade, the main difference being mine uses a soft leather pouch holster instead of molded leather...both have a wide elastic strap that is very secure...I don't see the need for a strap on mine and my friend with his ankle glove says his works fine without also...not to disuade from the ankle glove but just so you know, the Renegade will conceal slightly better under straight leg jeans since it isn't a molded rig...it has a retention strap that is a pull thru design...it is also about 25 bucks cheaper....:)

I wore an Ankle Glove when I was carrying my M60 up until a month or so ago. It carries very well and concealed well in straight leg jeans. When I hear about ankle rigs I hear about the Ankle Glove and the Renegade. Never tried the Renegade but some very knowledgable folks have recommend it.

I retired the M60 back to the safe for a new M&P40c about a month ago, Galco doesn't make the Ankle Glove for the M&P but they do make the Ankle Lite for several more frames, including the M&P, than they do the Ankle Glove. The Ankle Lite has the same elastic strap that comes on the Ankle Glove, the holster is the soft leather rather than the molded leather of the Ankle Glove.

I wear both without the calf strap with no problems. All in all excellent holsters!

Cheers,
Sam

I've worn the Galco Ankle Gloves for years with a Model 36 and a 640. I like them a lot and have had zero issues. I do not use the optional garter strap.

I use a Galco ankle glove with a Glock 27 without the calf strap. No problems.

I just acquired the Galco light weight verison off ebay and love it. I carry a M38 or a M442 without the optional strap. With a steel gun, the strap may feel better. Also it came with the Galco ankle wallet, and I love that also. I put a folding knife and two speed strips in it, and both legs are balanced with each other, and you can literally forget they are there. One of the best CCW moves I have ever made. I highly recommed both of these, and if I did not already have one would be willing to pay Galco their retail prices for them.
