Greetings, All,

Has anyone ever tried using a Galco Classic Lite, shoulder holster, for a S&W M642? If so, how did you like it? Comfortable? Easy to adjust and wear? Is you access to the pistol fairly easy, or not? Thanks for your comments on this. Take care, and God Bless!

Every Good Wish,
Doc

P.S. Pick up date for my NIB M642 is tomorrow!! Got me thinking about new ways to carry it. ;):)

Don't know about the holster question but I too am waiting on a 642. Won one on Gunbroker & I'm looking forward, as you are, to a new carry gun.:)

With the concealed hammer of the Centennial design, you have to have a specific hoster that doesn't depend on a strap over the hammer to hold the gun in. I've got a Mod 49 Bodyguard, the open top leather no-name holster I have for it will have to do until I find a new one for my new gun.

Now after we find what holster we want to carry in, we can go out and buy another box of high dollar ammo for the new gun too! ;)

Good Evening, GF,

Congrats on picking the 642, which I think is one of the best of breed for it's chosen task, and here's hoping your wait won't be too long! I look forward to getting mine tomorrow afternoon, and giving it a good going-over. I am going to shoot it with the IL in place, at least at first, and then remove the IL if I wish. I've already ordered "The Plug" from Bullseye Smith, and expect it will live on my new 642, eventually. Again, congrats on your new Smith, and God Bless!

Every Good Wish,

Consider the Null SKR also...

Evening, Photoman44,

As usual, many thanks for your kind suggestion. I checked out the Null holster, and it does, indeed, look like it would fill the bill. However, I also want some ammo pouches, and for that reason, and because I like the look of it, ordered one of the Galco holsters today. I found a great article online which spoke well of that holster, and decided to give it a try. I got mine from lights_n_holsters, a seller on eBay, for $79.99, which included free shipping.

Here is a link to the article with the review of that Galco holster:

Give it a squint and see what you think. Once it arrives, and I have had a chance to test it with my new 642, I'll post my thoughts about it, and see if they mirror those expressed in that article. If not, then I'll give Null's holster a try. Take care, and God Bless!

Every Good Wish,
Doc

I almost exclusively pocket carry my Model 642 (Uncle Mike's #3 pocket holster). On the occasions when I don't pocket carry it, I use either a Null City Slicker shoulder holster, or an El Paso Saddlery horizontal shoulder holster that looks very similar to the Galco Lite you are asking about. Of the two, I find the Null rig superior in comfort and concealment. My one criticism is the the draw for the Null is unusual, and takes some practice and getting used to. I also have an old Safariland paddle holster that I use primarily in the fall and winter under a light jacket that works well for me. If someone can provide instructions for how to attach photos, I'll try to post some holster photos if you are interested.

Regards,

Dave
