Have any of you noticed commercials on your local stations that are advertising a business not there yet?

Lately, ive noticed two. One for Red Robin--and this one has been played for acouple years here locally--and not one restaurant is open in my area. Its kind of irritating because-ive eaten at one in Austin a few ties and thought they were good.

The other is: Gander Mountain.A day or two ago--I saw an advertisement for one on a local TV station--but had not heard of one being built here?

We have had a few others--like: Longhorn Steakhouse--which did open about six months ago.

My point is--have you noticed any local advertising in your areas for somehting not in the area yet? Also, is there anything special about having a Gander Mountain?and are they akin to Dicks??

We had ads for Wendys loooooong before one opened. But then, when they FINALLY opened one up, we'd been watching them "hot and juicy, need more napkins" commercials so long folks was lining up out the doors.

Same with Quiznos sub shop. There were commercials for at least a year before it opened.

We have a new Gander Mountain up in San Antonio. Got desperate for something and spend the time driving up there. Waste of my time. Little or no reloading stuff and what items they do have are way over priced. Once I tried to sell some 44-40 ammo on the SASS Wire and an employee of Gander Mountain slammed me for being too high. Said he could get it cheaper. I went on their web site and found this ammo was about $15 more than I was asking. When I brought that up he mentioned he got a employee discount and then he shut his mouth. Still got the ammo.

Goes to show that they are way too expensive. Bought a Sig 2022 in 40 from Academy. Gander was charging $650, 200 more than I paid.

Nope, not going back. WAYYY TO EXPENSIVE

Gander mountain

Unless you are looking for competitively priced beef jerky and other similar snacks, you're not missing anything at Gander Mountain.

The first Gander Mtn. for my area opened in Greensboro, NC about 7-8 years ago. At first, it was really good, and worth the 1.5 hr. drive from where I lived. They had LOTS of reloading gear and components, and about the most powder I'd ever seen anywhere. Prices were just a little high, but not too bad.

On each subsequent visit, the stock became less available and higher priced. After a few more visits within 3 years, NO powder at all and very little loading gear. Prices even higher.

My last visit to that store showed almost no stock I was interested in, exorbitant prices and the store understaffed by mostly 19 to 22 year olds.

Now, there's two Gander Mtns. nearby, and they are nothing special. The values they place on used guns are almost comical. An example: a all-over CHROME plated S&W M1917 with genuine imitation pearl grips, $1999. A very used M10 HB $749, an old Hi Standard 'Sentinel' .22 revolver $550.
Many times, their 'store brand' clothing is more expensive than a comparable name brand equivalent, which is usually the opposite of how marketing is done, I do believe.
They are not affiliated with Dick's Sporting Goods. There is another business called 'Field and Stream' whose parent company is Dick's.
We have one of those nearby also. If you like $200 camo hunting pants, they're great. And they sometimes have powder, from $38 - $40/lb.

Where I live we have the chain fast food and Wal-Mart and the chain auto repart stores. We are 100 miles from any name band sporting good stores. We get the commercials for many business that are not open locally. I think it is the network feed.

We got one for bass pro last weekend. It is weird because there is none anywhere close to us. All 6-10hrs away probably. Even weirder since I just got back from visiting my sister and went to one for the first time and got home only the Friday before. Cool store though. I went to one of the biggest ones. I spent hours there (not really normal for me in any store)...

I see commercials for Fire House Subs, yet the only one that was opened has since closed down.
You gotta remember that these Comercials arnt just for Philadelphia. It's for the metro area which includes NJ, DE and suburbs. Looking on their site and using the zip code of 19116, far NE, I found 3. One in Lawrence NJ, Frazier Pa and one in Allentown

You aren't missing a thing.
There's one in my town.
Overpriced and you need a magnifying glass to find the meat.

Probably some of the most expensive, lousy bread I've ever purchased.

I'll never go to another one.

Well, you just save me some money. My father is a retired Philadelphia firefighter, at 6'5" and over 300 lbs. I'm sure if he went there, he'd swear those are no "fire house HOAGIES". Below is an example of what he considers a sandwich/hoagie.

We had commercials for Applebee's for quite a while before one opened
here.

I have gotten some good deals in the used guns at the only Gander Mountain near me. Got my son his first shotgun, a Sears pump 12, (High Standard) for $89. He shoot is pretty well.

Also picked up a snub S&W .357 and an Old Model Ruger
Blackhawk for decent prices. Have missed a few other deals due to
lack of funds in the gun fund.

Just before the ammo panic started my wife was in the vicinity of
Gander for a conference. Federal .22 bulk packs were on sale and I
asked her to buy me several. Still shooting them now, although my
daughter came to town last summer and made quite a dent in one
pack by herself.
