Gap in 4006 barrel to slide

Is it normal for there to be a gap on either side of the barrel hood? the space in question is where it fits into the breech face. If you look at my pictures (sorry, but all I have is an iphone) you can see quite a bit of light. I would like to know before I take it to the range and test it out.

I took the barrel out and dropped a snap cap in and really there's just a small amount of the case rim visible. I don't suppose it would cause any problems and it feels like the barrel locks up tight in the slide. Guess I'm just not used to there being a visible tolerance in that area of a slide/barrel.

Thanks. I figured it was good to go based on the lock up, but just wanted to clarify. Obviously these arent matched guns, so tolerances are okay.
