Anyone here used the plunger type sling swivel under the gas block on the M&P 15...........and feel comfortable with that set up?

Yes, I did. I had a Midwest Industries Push Button Quick Disconnect in the bottom of my M&P15OR's gas block.

I later changed the gas block to a YHM Hooded Folding Front Sight/Gas Block with Rail; and to keep my setup simular, I put a MI HD quick disconnect mount on the bottom rail of the YHM gas block.

Yup - I use a Vltor swivel on mine. It's been through a carbine class and several gun drill range sessions without any issues.

Some good looking guns here. I guess I could have worded my question a bit better. I was wondering if you folks thought it was a strong, secure way of carry, compared to other means. Maybe I'm making something out of nothing, and should try it for myself first, but it (IMO) just didn't seem that sturdy to me.

The heavy duty QD swivels will hold up just fine.

Many people that don't have mount points on their guns add them so they CAN use them. Get a good sling (you'll get a bunch of opinions on which one is best), and be happy.
