This is a one of my equipment vendors. At trade shows he has an assortment of different flavored single serving “business cards” at his booth. Genius.....

Halloween, Atlanta, three years ago. Looked like a couple of families had gotten together. They had several bushel baskets full of full-size Snickers and Hershey bars and Resee Cups, and a little plastic tub full of miniatures of Woodford Reserve and Jack Black. They was giving candy to the kids and whiskey to the adults.

We made sure to go down that street again. Lady says, "We remember you!"

We said, "We remember you too. That's why we came back." And everbody got another bottle.

I used to attend several trade shows a year. Some vendors always had similar creative "business cards" at their booths, but I don't remember anything alcoholic. That was always provided at numerous hotel "Vendor Hospitality Suites" held in the evening. I especially remember one LAGCOE conference (Lafayette LA) hospitality suite which even provided a selection of some fairly attractive working girls from New Orleans, but those interested had to make their own deals with them. I don't know if they passed out business cards.

Trouble is that once you drink the contents the empty is a little bulky to keep. Real problem putting it in your rolodex.....

Does anyone still keep a Rolodex? For many years I have used only a computer cardfile program (EviEdit) - far better than any Rolodex as it is searchable, editable, and has an infinite capacity.

My favorite calling card was from a baseboard radiation vendor. When he came to bid a job, he brought dozens of assorted knishes from the worlds best knish maker, Knish Nosh, in Queens NY.

He brought enough for everyone in the company to enjoy, and we looked forward to his continued prosperity. :)

A good knish is a lovely thing. And don't me started about blintzes or strudel.

I always wanted to have cards made that said "Have Gnu, Will Travel", and a fictitious 900 phone number.

Then you have Pasties (no not the ones strippers wear...the meat pies) that are popular in several areas. :)

You can get round egg rolls that are fried, and of course won tons can be fried or boiled. Yep, meat and other fillings in a dough wrapping is a near universal gastronomic treat!

Wonder whether imprinting your business info into the dough would last long enough to do any good? Probably not!
