Friend of mine down at the local American Legion, Let's call him Brian, always had a lot of admiration for 1940's big band music, listening to Glen Miller's orchestra, 'in the mood', and such type music. He was and is my friend, WW2 Marine veteran who raised a lot of kids on not a lot of money.
Being really into classic music and oldies, I always enjoyed sharing my passion for classic rock with him and the depression era radios I had, guitars (martins), and harmonics and instruments of the day...having played many different instruments proficiently and supported by music theory.
Well, one day I ask him, I go 'Brian' (Irish fella and this is not his real name), what was made of rock'n'roll back then when many of your peers and you included were working on farms and etc., he goes, well Rock N Roll was something we enjoyed but didnt talk about. There were a lot of changes in his lifetime, but we and I share and enjoy classic music every now and again......
