Georgia – The Governor has signed SB 319, "Georgia Permitless Carry." The law becomes effective immediately. Those 21 years of age or older or Active Military or Honorably Discharged Veterans 18 or older who can legally possess a firearm can carry without a permit. See entry below as Georgia at this time does not honor all other states permits but with a valid permit Georgia Honors you can carry at 18. Georgia General Assembly

Additional bill the Georgia Governor signed today. HB 218 has Georgia honoring all other states: bill DOES NOT GO into EFFECT until July 1, 2022.

Nebraska – Monday 4/11 the Nebraska Legislature voted to kill their Permitless Carry Bill. It died for a lack of just 2 additional votes. So it looks like Permitless Carry is dead for Nebraska this year.

Handgunlaw.us will be updated later this evening or early tomorrow with Georgia becoming the 25th state to pass Permitless Carry. Alabama, Indiana and Ohio passed bills to go Permitless Carry but their laws don't go into effect until later. See Permitless Carry State listing at https://handgunlaw.us/documents/Permitless_Carry_States.pdf for info on when their law becomes effective.

Eventually most states will come around. I'm a huge proponent of constitutional carry. An armed society is a civil society. I've had a permit to carry concealed for 30 years. I absolutely will not give up that right.

Congratulations Georgia.

Gary,

I like seeing the uptick in Constitutional Carry states. I do have a question: do the Constitutional Carry states have provisions that apply to non-residents if their state doesn't issue permits? As an example, if I didn't possess a valid non-resident permit from another state, would I (as a resident of NJ) have the right to exercise the privilege of Constitutional Carry in a Constitutional Carry state?

In Montana this is what I found

On February 18, 2021, Montana Governor Greg Gianforte signed HB 102 into law, which allows residents and nonresidents 18 or older to concealed carry a firearm throughout the state without a permit. Permitless open carry was already legal.

This was from Wikipedia. They had all states listed so you will have to see if each state will or won't.

Permitless Carry allows anyone who can legally carry a firearm to carry in that state without any type of permit. There are some age restrictions in some states with a few having more restrictions on those carrying under Permitless Carry can't legally carry in some places in that state while those with a valid permit in that state can carry. North Dakota only allows its residents to carry without a permit. All states that have permitless Carry except for Vermont still issue permits to carry. Vermont has never required a permit to carry and has never issued permits.

Maine has had CC for a number of years now as has NH. Maine also offers permitted carry. If you don't have a Maine permit it's your duty to notify law enforcement you're carrying if stopped. Other than that we welcome those and their guns from away.
So, come on up. Strap on your sixgun when you cross over the NH line and work your way up to Maine!
