As not to hijack or devert other threads, I have starteed a new one.

Random thoughts:
If you work a distance from where you live, or like me you have to shop several miles from where you live, or may, on a regular basis travel a distnace from where you live, here are some "random thoughts".

IF for what ever reason you find that you will need to travel on foot, for up to several miles, to safety, the following things shoule be considered.

First your personal safety. [where legal, of course].
You should have an adequate handgun or two, and a LOT of extra ammo, loaded in magazines or speed loaders.

Also, I much prefer to have a rifle, with again a LOT of ammo. Yes,I know this is not always possible, but the farther I am away from home the more I want it...

I like to have 3 days of water, 3 days of food. Clothing for the conditions.
I carry a compass, maps of the area, flashlights, firestarter, knives etc.
Again, if I am a long distance from home, I want more water and food.
I have a pack to carry it in.

I always keep my phone fully charged. I always carry a car charger for my phone, even if I am traveling in a buddies vehicle.
Yes there are some places in the USA where a cell phone does not work.

I carry a fair amount of cash in small bills.

I am prepared to use force, including Deadly Force, to ensure my safety...

Grammar aside, Deadly Force is always a capital idea! Ivan
I keep a roll of quarters in the vehicle, not all middle of nowhere vending machines take bills!

Boy Scout

Howdy,
I guess it is the Boy Scout in me. I don't take extra food or water but if I am very far from home (Way out of state) I swap out the XDS for a high cap and extra mag, fresh batteries in a good light, cash and clothes suitable for extended stay outside.
Earthquake, terrorism, chaos, the unknown, who knows what might result in the long walk home? I'd just as soon do it well armed and in comfortable shoes.
BE PREPARED!
Thanks
Mike
