glock 19 carry

possibly switching carry from a s&w revolver to my glock 19 . usually carry a speed loader with the wheel gun but am wanting more capacity .
winter is no problem with the glock , a number of options will work. but in summer hot weather i mostly wear shorts & a single summer shirt .

looking at a desantis tuck this iwb holster that has a spare mag pouch attached with the holster . will i be able to get by with a somewhat loose fitting shirt and tuck the shirt loosely behind this holster , but yet concealing it properly ? would this be a comfortable carry when in the hip carry position ?
i believe that a shoulder holster , worn with a tee shirt under my main summer casual shirt would work well , but then again i would be wearing 2 shirts in hot weather ... unless i would wear the shoulder rig right next to the body . too uncomfortable ? if so would a nylon rig be my best bet ? which make ?
or would some other holster/gun combo work better ?
dont be afraid to be specific and give details if you have found what works with what i am trying to do. am willing to make some sacrifices but not too drastically .

Hot weather all year here. Pocket carry with a smaller gun was the only answer for me.

For my G19C and my G23 I use an Alien Gear Cloak Tuck IWB for the summer months with a tank top or t shirt under loose button up like a Columbia fishing shirt during the summer, during the hottest days I might not use the undershirt but the holster against the skin all day is not that comfortable or I will use an OWB and long shirt or use my Beretta 84F in an IWB. During the rest of the year it will be a Galco VHS shoulder system over a t shirt or tank top under another shirt and then a vest or jacket. I also will wear this during the summer under a light cotton work vest from Duluth

I have my company name and a Texas flag embroidered on it so it looks more like an oil field service vest than a "tactical" vest

I have a Glock 19 and have carried it quite a bit when out in the woods
hunting but not so much in town for CC use. When in public in light
clothing it's just a lot easier to conceal a smaller gun. But to answer
your question, I can't even imagine being comfortable with a G19
and a spare magazine all crammed into an IWB holster. The only
CC positions that I have ever found comfortable in T-shirt weather
are pocket carry or appendix position with a loose shirt tail hanging
out. A simple belt slide holster with a neutral cant worn in the
appendix position under a baggy shirt should allow you to carry your
19, no extra mag, with good concealment and comfort in warm weather.

The often maligned small of the back holster, such as this Galco version, would work very well with a loose fitting, long-tail shirt.

The Don Hume JIT belt slide, as mentioned in the post above, works well. I have several of these for different pistols.

I don't understand the idea of a "loose fitting shirt and tuck the shirt loosely behind this holster" -- if you tuck the shirt behind the holster, the firearm and the holster will be exposed.

With the right IWB, an untucked t-shirt and loose button up shirt over it, you can properly conceal a Glock 19 if you are of at least average height and build. A t-shirt alone will have to be dark and significantly oversized or it will print, and even then it will still print more than I'd like.

Too many folks slip on the rig, throw a loose shirt on, look in the mirror and if they don't see anything call it good. Trouble is standing straight up not moving is the ideal concealment situation -- it isn't realistic to being out and about, where you will be walking, kneeling, bending, sitting in a restaurant chair slumped forward back to everyone, etc., and what doesn't print standing upright and unmoving in the mirror will print in many other situations.

A quality IWB rig (for the Glock 19, I like the Ritchie Nighthawk, which you can get from Top Gun Supply without the wait), an untucked t-shirt and causal button up (doesn't have to be buttoned), will keep you truly concealed under a wide variety of normal conditions.

The other consideration is carrying Glock 19 IWB with, presumably, a spare magazine on your belt will likely feel much more "weighted down" and "overfull" than the revolver you're currently packing, and will take some getting used to; you probably won't feel as lithe and light as carrying, say, a lightweight J snubby permits.

As usual, don't forget a quality belt.

Depends on your body type. Some people can conceal a AT4 rocket. I carry a Glock 19 all year in an iwb holster. I wouldn't say I wear a loose shirt, just not a tight one. I have an undershirt/tank top tucked in because I don't like the feeling of the belt or the belt line of the jeans on bare skin (obviously the holster too). Over that I wear a tshirt. Summer temps here are in the 90s and humid. I don't notice a difference as far as being hot in the summer. But if I do sweat it doesn't show as it's all absorbed by the tank top.

I've always found that its actually cooler to wear a T or tank top underneath a button shirt. Especially if its polypro or some other wicking material.

I have my IWB set of clothing-jeans, cargo shorts, dockers, and a few dress slacks one to two inches larger than normal. I also have polo shirts, tee shirts, and short sleeve square tail shirts one size larger than normal. Additionally I have a good gun belt-Beltman bull hide 1.5". I carry AIWB a 19 or S&W 65 3". I also can carry OWB the Smith 65 in a Simply Rugged holster at 2:00 position. It rides high and the grip is pulled tight to my body. I don't have an OWB holster yet for the Glock. I am considering a Most Concealable OWB Holster | Silent Thunder STX Kydex and Leather | Garrett Holsters. I find less printing ( in Texas we now have OC so I'm less concerned) due to movement at the 2:00 position, I can get to the gun faster, and I have better control over preventing someone from trying to take the gun from me. Everyone is built differently YMMV

If you carried a revolver with a speed loader, you had 12 rounds at your disposal (I'm assuming). You can carry 15 + 1 in your Glock. That's already 4 more than you had with the revolver. It might be a step in the right direction to carry without that spare mag. It would improve the comfort level somewhat. Odd are you would never need more than 3 shots in a SD situation anyway.

IWB its a Milt Sparks VMII for me. been using one for years. its not cheap, but super comfy and VERY concealable. i carry a VP9 in one daily, with an undershirt and either a loose T or loose button down. for mag holder, Safariland mag-clip. its a spring steel simple design.

I don't have a G19, but I CC my M&P FS and a spare mag IWB almost every day, year 'round. It is super concealable with the right gear (for me, a Kramer #2, on a Kramer belt) and clothing (slightly larger t-shirts, polos, or button-ups). If that stuff "prints" too much, I might switch the holster to my Keepers Concealment AIWB - this makes my M&P virtually undetectable in 95% of my shirts. It takes a little getting used to if you're not a frequent IWB'er, but you will get used to it if you stick with it. If you don't like the feel of all that gear IWB, carry the mag in an OWB holder; it doesn't have as big of a footprint as the gun. If that still doesn't work, get a pocket mag holder and put it in one of your pockets. I always wear an undershirt. It can be hot and slightly uncomfortable, but that doesn't change because of the gun I carry. It wouldn't matter if I was carrying my Shield that day - I still wear the same clothes. I don't mind sweating a little more to have the comfort of a good CCW.

There is a class of guns that typically hold 15 rounds of 9mm, have a barrel long enough to really make distance shot, but take up about the same real estate as a J frame.

The leader of that class is the Glock 19. Others in that class are, in alphabetical order, Beretta PX4 Compact, HK P2000, SIG Sauer P320 Compact, SIG Sauer P250 Compact.

There are more compact 9mm pistols for sure, but they do not do as well at longer distances, and there are larger versions of the above pistols, except the P2000, but they do not conceal nearly as well. A little bit really does make a difference when concealing.

S&W's M&P Compact is smaller than the class of pistols to which I refer, and the standard size M&P has a grip that is just long enough that, while more comfortable, also protrudes when concealing. Many members of this forum have advocated for a 15 shot version of the M&P with a correspondingly shorter grip frame, but they usually get shouted down or called "Glock fan boys."

In any event, you are on the right track with the Glock 19 or a pistol matching its dimensions. That size hits a "sweet spot" for effectiveness and concealment. It truly is a pistol that can be carried for duty or off-duty, or openly or concealed, while still making shots at the 25 yard line a breeze compared to the same size revolver or the "sub-compact" version of the pistol models.

Dress for your pistol and you will find that carrying that size pistol is a breeze.

To paraphrase the Connery character in "The Untouchables," with the Glock 19 size pistol you can easily follow the advice, "Wearing your pants? Wear your pistol."*

*I believe in "The Untouchables," the Connery character actually said, "Carry a badge? Carry a gun."

I use a Lobo offset belt clip. I find it easy to don and doff and holds the 19 high and stable. Very comfortable for what you're carrying.

Another Alien Gear user here. Carried a G-19 for years (and still do on occasion) in one of their cloak-tuck IWBs. Excellent holster for the $ IMO and prefer it to the pricier White Hat IWB.

I carry a G19 in a Comp-Tac MTAC year round. I wear mostly blue jeans with a gun belt. A great holster for the G19. I do like long tailed t-shirts. Recently found the best long tailed t-shirts I've seen at duluthtrading.com. They are truly long and has stopped me from shirt tugging to hide the gun. A little expensive for a T but great quality and worth it to have the length. These 3" longer t-shirts would do well with shorts, cargo pants, etc. left untucked. Want a long t-shirt then Duluth trading. I don't usually carry an extra mag and 15 rounds should be enough for most circumstances and if not I carry a belt double mag pouch. Definitely not as easy to conceal as a small handgun but doable. I too highly recommend pants one or two sizes larger than you normally wear for carrying the G19 IWB holsters and get a quality gun belt.

A Glock 19 resides in my truck console.
I pack a Colt Commander as my primary..but out of
old habits in done via "Mexican Carry".
That habit is bad Ju-Ju for a Glock.

Older I get the hi cap and 9mm is beginning to appeal
to me.....more "boolets" less recoil.

think i solved it ....

got a glock 43 . not as many rounds as the g19 for sure , but a slight increase over the 38 snub + a more potent round . it fits very good in a pocket & i will implement carrying it as soon as i can get to the range to check for functioning of the 43. this week i hope. will carry the spare mag also.
i also have got an answer for the g19 to carry if i decide i want to pack it sometimes. have a thunderwear holster . have carried a 357 ruger sp101 2" with the thunderwear at times . the 19 fits really good with it also ! tried putting it on with a the gun loaded with a loaded spare mag . walked around for a few minutes , squatted down a few times , tried sitting a few times also . was not uncomfortable and the the thunderwear set up did not print thru , at least nearly unnoticed .

Good decision, I bought a G43 and then a G42 .380 and I almost
always carry one of them but I'm still keeping my G19. The 43 and 42
will fit in a jeans pocket and are pretty light. If and when I feel the
need for more firepower then the 19 can be carried, just not in a pocket.
Having options is what it comes down to so you can decide what fits
your needs at any given time.

There are good quality holsters from various makers out there. I have a Frick "Nehemiah" for my 19L (grip chopped 17). Friends swear by the JM Holsters models, and the Sparks VMII is a well known winner. A quality belt is critical. I have no heat tolerance and wear as little as possible most of the time, especially in the summer. Cargo shorts, sandals, and a T shirt (usually with an undershirt if I am carrying on the waist) when I am not at work. I'm 6'1, 50 coat, 235 on a bad day. Most of the time, my EDC is a G33 w/spare mag carried in a Kramer pocket holster, which works very well in order to comply w/Rule 1 (have a gun).

I have to say that my Crossbreed for my Lc9 is my go to rig for CCW.
It has become, as their ad says, more comfortable with use.
Very concealed.
I'm debating on the Alien gear or another Crossbreed for my G19.
I'm watching closely here.

I carry a 1911 Commander in a Tucker Summer Comfort IWB in the summer with a T or Polo shirt. I have an Alien Gear IWB and do not like it. The mouth of the holster closes up when the pistol is drawn and very difficult to re-holster the pistol.
My sister carries a G19 every day IWB and she has no issue. She uses a Comtac rig.

I carry mine either in a galco shoulder holster or a serpa holster. I'm only 5'9" 140 lbs and I manage to conceal it fairly well.
