Stopped by a local pawn shop to pick up a S&W revolver I had purchased. While waiting for the paperwork to process I was looking in the case and saw two "compact" semi-autos. A Glock 30 in 45 ACP and a CZ75 compact in 40 S&W. Handling them both my predisposition for the CZ75 was reinforced. Have any of you actually fired either of these designs and are willing to comment on them?

The real puzzle to me was why the asking price on the CZ was $100 less than the Glock.

I have the Glock 30. It's never given me any problems. I like it a lot, much more than its full-size brother, the Glock 21. Right now, the G30 is my backup/off-duty gun.

I have shot many rounds through a glock but none in a CZ. Shooting at the USPSA match I noticed that the majority of a local law enforcement shooting team had CZs on their side over their duty weapons (glocks). So take it for what its worth. I like Glock pistols but it does take some getting used to due to the grip angle. They are very durable and accurate. All that said, I prefer HK pistols over all other autos

I own 5 CZ's in various configurations and NO Glocks..The CZ's have NEVER failed in any manner. Collectively they account for over 15,000 rounds. I firmly believe that Col. Cooper had it right when he said, " Other than the caliber (9mm) the CZ 75 is quite possibly the worlds perfect pistol. The ergonomics are fantastic, they are reliable, accurate and feed EVERYTHING! Get one and you will see what I mean.

Trigger reach on the CZ75 and large frame Glocks is too long for me, so for me, the answer is "neither".

I'd go with a Glock 19 or Glock 23.

I own seven CZ's (75 SA, two 75 B's, two 75 B Compacts, Rami, Kadet) and three Glocks, all in 9mm. The CZ's are beautiful guns and fit my hand better than any other semi-auto. Their DA triggers are pretty stiff and long, but I always carry them cocked and locked and never shoot DA. The SA pulls have some take-up, but otherwise they're excellent and very easy to shoot quickly and accurately. All of mine are reliable and accurate; I love shooting them.

The Glocks (19, 26, 34) are blocky but they point more accurately than any guns I've tried. They have excellent sights (easier to pick up fast than those on the CZ's or any Smith revolver), are totally reliable, and have the best trigger pulls this side of a good 1911. Glocks and CZ's usually have similar accuracy in my hands, although the CZ 75 SA (single action only) has a slight edge most of the time. My Glock 34 is a marvelous piece of work in every regard - costs half what a top 1911 would and gives away nothing in terms of trigger pull and quick proficiency at the range.

The upshot? I love both brands; they got me out of revolvers after years of buying, trying and rejecting most of the semi-autos on the market. I'd be completely comfortable with either for defense or competition, although the remarkable light weight of the Glock 19 or 26 makes them the best carry guns anywhere.

If absolutely pressed to pick one, I'd go with a CZ 75, either full size or Compact, mostly on looks (and you can spruce them up further by purchasing beautiful wood grips). For function and all-round shootability, however, you can't beat a Glock 9mm.

So I hope I'm never pressed to pick one over the other.

I have had a full size CZ 75 .40 for about 20 yrs and like it a lot. It is my "go to" defensive handgun and I have had a WHOLE bunch of defensive handguns. I think the Glocks are fine but I don't own any, although I may get a 10m/m some day just for grins, but the only other defensive semi-auto handgun I really like is a 1911 .45 automatic. Glocks, Sigs, Berettas, and S&W's are dandy guns, but I just prefer the other two plus a bucket full of S&W revolvers!

CZ makes fantastic weapons and I'd take one over a Glock anyday of the week. I have shot quite a few and own a 75-SPO1. Very accurate and solidly built pistol. Granted they are also large but I only carry a 1911 so the CZ sees range duty. CZ also owns Dan Wesson.

Hi:
I had a Glock Model 30 .45acp for "Off Duty".
The only negative was loading the last two rounds in the magazine. I sent the magazines back to Glock. Glock checked them and found nothing amiss. I left the magazine fully loaded for the better part of a year and they still were a "bear" to load the last two rounds.
