I have decided to carry a 29-2 deer hunting a few times this season for a possible close encounter. Have some 200 grain jacketed hollow points that claim 1650 FPS; is that possible? For a .44 magnum sounds kind of fast to me. Range time, but last time I shot it was DOA. Have to try these new loads on a target before trying them on a deer. Will post if it turns into a success year for Dirty Harry...

I've only shot one deer with a handgun, 357 mag. The 1st thing I would do is only take a shot that is 'bow hunting close'. Then place the shot carefully. My new handgun hunting loads are WFN 'hardcast'.

I'll be out next weekend with my older Son on the 'youth hunt'. He'll be using a Knight muzzle-loader with a somewhat reduced charge.

Sir,

My handload averages around 1700fps with a 210gr. jhp bullet. That is over 26.5gr. of H110, and with the 8-3/8" barrel. As folks say around here, Your Mileage May Vary.

Best wishes on your hunt!
Andy
