Just wondering what the "accepted" going rate is for the 60-4 full-lug, 3-inch target-sight 38 Specials these days. GB shows very little activity for this variation, but I did see one sell for $700 very recently.
Also curious what "limited production" means for this specific model as indicated in the Standard Catalog. I've wanted to get a model 60 for years and have never found the right deal and the dash-4 looks pretty sweet.

I watched three sell on Gun Broker in March for $880, $906, and $945. The low and high one were with the boxes and paperwork; the middle one had incorrect magna stocks and no box.

Occasionally I see one sell for higher or lower, but I believe this gives you a fair idea of the current market.

I have no idea what the ambiguous "limited production" means. I've not seen production numbers quoted anywhere.

Thanks, guys, so it sounds like the $700 one that I saw was priced fairly. I appreciate the input.

They've gotten scarce lately on GB. 6-12 months ago there were more, and the prices were more reasonable. Low of maybe 550. Up into the 600-700s. I've seen the same with a lot of guns though. 1-2 years ago there were more available. I'm not really sure why they've dried up.

S&W Model 60-4

OP
I don't know the current value. I bought mine many years ago.
I put the target J frame grips on it.
A pic to tide you over until you find yours.

These were made in the late 80's, and were limited numbers. I don'tknow how many were made, but it's sister gun, the 36-6 (same 3" full lug barrel) had only 2000 made. I understand the 60-4 was similar.

The 36-6 was a 1989 limited edition of 2,000, according to Dr. Jinks.

I've documented 60-4 shipping dates in every year from 1990 through 1995. All the 60-4s I've seen have the unusual serrated (not smooth) combat trigger, and after serial number BRN4673 the hammers and triggers didn't have the standard Model 60 flash chromed finish.

Smith & Wesson still lists them on their website. I paid $700 NIB for mine about 7 years ago. I'm sure it's not the 60-4 though. It has the dreaded hole for the lock.

This thread needs pictures.

I paid $750 for each of these several years ago. I was able to buy another 60-4 for $500, which I subsequently sold for $900.

On Gunbroker,

BKF8390 w. box sold for $860 in April Julian date code 1169
BRR1642 w. box sold for $560 also in April date code 4263

Both can still be found still in the completed auctions.
