Anyone have any idea what the head stamp on the Federal GMM is? Sometime back I bought 500 allegedly once fired GMM .308s, headstamp is just FEDERAL and .308. Given the weight variation between cases, and the case length, I'm starting to wonder. LC Match brass has much better uniformity.

A friend of mine made ammo for a .308 that I had one time. He weighted the cases he had and separated out the cases he liked for weight. With his loadings in my rifle we were getting 1 inch groups at 200 yards off the bench.

I believe the Federal Gold Metal Match says Match on it. I didn't find the FC brass to be very bad in the 90's.

When I start Long Range shooting, I got a few cases of Hornady LEO only 165 A-Max Match. Great load (20 in same bullet hole@100) I used those 660 brass for several years.

I retired it to a ball load for the AR-10 and My Long Range ammo is hand-loaded 155 Sierra Palma over 47gr of Varget with Fed 210M and Lapua Match brass I'm sticking with the large primer, but many are going with a small primer brass (Called Palma Brass by several companies) and a Rem' 7 1/2!! My moto, If it works do not fix it! This is from the Hodgdon Magazine load for 155 Sierra. I get 1/4 to 1/2 MOA out to 800 and sometimes 1000 yards! At 300 and less you can stack bullets by the dozen!

Some ammo is marked "Match" due to the bullet weight in the 165 gr weights
due to the higher BC over the 150 gr bullets and how well they did
at longer distances.

LC cases are known for their quality in matches, if you can get it.

I seldom shoot factory ammo, but wound up with two or three boxes of Federal Match .308 with a 185 grain Berger bullet. Very surprisingly, it was a hair more accurate than my best handload using a Sierra MK bullet. I'm not at home so I can't check, but I'm pretty sure the brass was not marked as "match".

Appreciate it guys. I used to shoot F class/tactical long range. Lucked into a 700 varmint that is a 1/2 MOA guy if I'm doing my part. Used the 155 gr Palma bullet and LC match brass. Trying to get back into precision and am trying to find a different powder.

Still have 3 100 rd boxes of FedGMM, and it is all headstamped
