That is sad news. I loved him on Gomer Pyle. And he had a wonderful voice. A true American. He will be missed.

Jim Nabors has passed away at the age of 87.
Him and all the rest of his cast come from an era of great talent and home grown entertainment when everyone had good morals for the most part . He will be greatly missed for certain . He was a great singer as well as actor !

I have admired him for his comedic ability, his baritone voice, his gentle demeanor and treatment of others. My mom still has some of his LP's.
One of the great benefits of the internet is that we can enjoy his collective works anytime, which I think I will now do.

In 1964 I was stationed in camp Lejuene, NC. The show cam on about September. I recall that because it was the anniversary of my enlistment. We all loved the show because it simply made us laugh because it was such a good comedy. You can be sure manu of us were replying to staff NCOs with Sahazam and Gollee. The usual reply was jus get it done Gomer. I went to Okinawa in March 65, and so I could not watch it. That was the case until the show went off the air because I was out of the country ,ostnof the time. The man could sing.
