I went to the Memphis gun show today. Frankly, I wasn't looking forward to it. At last one the crowd was shoulder to shoulder. You could hardly move much less get a good look at anything. Also I didn't find a single thing I wanted or needed. It was not a pleasent experience.
However, I needed some .22 ammo as my supply is getting below my comfort level. With the current ammo shortage, nobody in town had any. I wanted good ammo. I also had no intentions of buying any guns.
Knowing that any of the good stuff would go quickly, I was there when they opened the door.
Much to my surprise the line to get in wasn't that long. Once inside and for the whole time I was there they had a decent crowd, but not near as bad as last time. You actually could stop, look, talk and linger without getting run over.
Anyway, I immediately checked the ammo dealers. I found one guy with four bricks of Winchester Super X. My favorite .22 ammo as all of my guns just love this stuff. I bought all four bricks.

Went by NKJ's table and he had some Remington Thunderbolts. Decent stuff, makes pretty good plinking ammo so I picked up two bricks there. Also got some powder and a box of TVB 125gr .38 caliber lead bullets.
Ok, mission accomplished. I'm in a good mood.

Since the place isn't over crowded, My buddy and I spent the next hour or so calmly cruising through the tables, looking at stuff, stopping often, talking to folks and generally having a good time.
We saw some good stuff. A fair number of nice Smiths. One guy had six of the Ruger LCPs he had just gotten in. Been curious about those so we gave them a good look-see. A nice 4" Ruger Security Six at a reasonable price. I've always regreted not getting one of those. Several nice rifles.
Yep, I was tempted, but I kept reminding myself that I had no intention of buying any guns today. Don't need 'em and certianly don't need to be spending the money right now.

Then I saw it.........

Nope, not a Smith. But there is one other handgun that I do dearly love. And this particular model has been on my want list for quite some time. It was in about 95% condition. One of those you can easily tell that someone bought new, shot only a few times and put it away to rarely see the light of day. The only flaws were a couple in pin head sized rust specks from not being oiled regularly. Just enough to make you shoot the dickens out of it with no regrets.
I turned to my friend and said "Quick, talk me outta this!" Remember, I had no intentions of buying any guns today. Of course he was no help. Instead he looks at me and says "Aw hell, just go ahead and buy it."
The rest as they say is history.

Ok, not a Smith, but I know we have some fans of these here. So here's my newest acquisition.

Yep...I feel your pain
besides Smith's I have a love for them old Colt 45's.

I am regretting passing on a 1968 Lwt Commander a while back for $800, but damn I have 6 1911 variants now

Its a sickness

Do you recall what the gun show price was on the LCP's?

I've never even been able to hold one after a year of asking around various retailers.

grayfox, sorry i missed you there. tennexplorer and i were walking around from about 9:30 til 11:30. i did come home with a neat older weaver K-10, USA made of course. lee

Yea, It was much easier to move around Saturday than it was at the last show. I picked up a NNIB Beretta Mdl 21 22 Auto pocket gun with two mags and paperwork for eighty-five bucks. I even got the original receipt where it was purchased at Gun's and Ammo for $200.00 + Tax & TICS. I was heading over to NKJ's table when I got BUSTED by my girlfriends best friend, her husband and her cell phone. Never made it over to Jessie's tables and really needed some 22's 38's and 45's. Oh well, I've got a few mags full that I keep stashed in the dog house. Seems I am spending a lot of time there lately.
