I hadn't been to the range since about April. I celebrated my 80th Birthday last month and thought it was about time to head for the range.

I had my S&W 520 with me (titanium seven shot cylinder and 4" composite barrel):

Here's my best target of the day:

And-d-d, just to prove it wasn't ENTIRELY a fluke, here is a follow up target:

We have had summer thunderstorms seemingly every other day. Some of them have been heavy. It is NOT characteristic of our normal weather - just an extremely wet and stormy summer. At any rate, it seems everytime I want to do something out of doors it is raining, big time. Finally, was able to get to the range and the weather was so good I felt like celebrating!

Good shooting to you all,

What a great way to spend your b'day. That's some mighty fine shootin' there too!

75vette;
Thanks for the kind words!
Every time I get the 520 out, I think of all of those folks who avoid the composite barrels, etc. like the plague. I am saddened because of the performance level of my 520. The above targets were shot standing. That revolver, from a rest, will shoot well under 1" at 25 yards.

Just in case anyone is interested, that load is a home cast bullet (original H&G #50 wadcutter) over 3.2 grs of Bullseye in .38 Special cases. It also makes a fine load for edible small game (my passion when I was much younger).

So, I may suggest that those who have been shying away from the similar revolvers, you might want to take another look. They perform exceptionally well.

I feel your pain with the rain as you are getting it right after we do. Hell of a storm passed through here Friday evening. I wanted to shoot this weekend but nearly 100% humidity yesterday and today have kept me in the recliner with 2 little dogs in my lap.
